Sportspray at the Ironman 70.3 Philippine Triathlon
After a rigorous day of sports under the scorching sun, the last thing someone would want is smelly ‘sportsman’ odor and a reminder of the blatant physical stress he or she has been subjected to. That is why the market is flooded with products that promise good hygiene and those that beef up confidence after a hard-day’s-work.
G&G International Unlimited, Inc., true to its advocacy to promote the image of Filipino athletes, gave its all-out support to the recently-held second edition of the Asian series of Ironman Championships, dubbed as Ironman 70.3 Philippine Triathlon, held at CamSur Watersports Complex. Jotle Viray, G&G CEO, sponsored a team of eight athletes who excruciatingly but valiantly competed in three intense sports – swimming for 1.9 kilometers, biking for 90 kilometers, and running for 21 kilometers – all for a total distance of 113 kilometers. The athletes competed under the Team Sportspray banner. Sportspray is an all- around antibacterial sports gear deodorizer and disinfectant.
“I want Sportspray to be part of triathlon. Triathlon entails focus, discipline, stamina and at the end of it, the last thing you want is to be faced with the problem of smelly athletic gear. Sportspray is here to address this problem. We believe that our product is ideally matched with athletes who are concerned with performance and good hygiene,” Viray enthused. Jotle Viray is a true-blooded sportsman himself. He grew up involved in a lot of sports, including martial arts, swimming, football and Olympic trap shotgun.
Team Sportspray is being handled by Deo Patalinghug and Bong Patrimonio. The eight members who composed the team ranged from 26 to 65 years old. “We are happy to have Sportspray with us to support our needs. Our team exerted our very best to finish the competition. We poured our individual efforts to the competition because there are no shortcuts to completing the game. It’s all about how you discipline yourself to achieve your set target. We are very pleased that Sportspray was there to help us when we represented our country,” stated Patalinghug.
The Ironman Championship was introduced in the country last year. The Ironman 70.3 Philippines triathlon is a physically engaging competition that needs solid endurance to complete the three events – swimming, biking, and running. The athletes who join Ironman 70.3 Philippines triathlon are men and women aged 18 and above. There are no rigid requirements to join, except the drive and stamina to complete the race. Participants compete individually or as part of a relay team under a corporate or collegiate group. This year’s banner bearer is Pete Jacobs of Sydney, Australia who survived the blistering hot and humid weather to win in the Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3
Philippines. In the second place is last year’s champion, Terenzo Bozzone, and in the third place is Fredrik Croneborg of Sundborn, Sweden.
“I hope our team will grow bigger soon. Team Sportspray welcomes everyone who really is serious in becoming a competitive triathlete. Just like Sportspray, we aim not only to strive for the best, but also to become the best of the best,” Viray added. Sportspray is an all-around formula that kills 99.9% of harmful microorganisms, germs and bacteria. It can be used on all sorts of athletic apparel, shoes, bags, sports mats, dry-fit shirts, straps, jackets, bags, and jackets. It is safe, BFAD- approved and environment-friendly. Sportspray is available at Toby’s, AAK Fitness Gym, Peak, All Terra, OTC, Second Wind and leading sport shops in Metro Manila.
